The RN Magellan is a cutting-edge bunkering tanker, designed to meet the demands of the modern era. The vessel's double hull meets reinforced ice class standards, thus enabling operations without the need for icebreaking assistance in specific conditions. The vessel has a length overall (LOA) of 99 metres and comprises eight distinct tanks, allowing for the simultaneous transportation of various petroleum products with a maximum weight of 5,000 tons.
The vessel is equipped with cutting-edge navigation and safety systems that comply with the most rigorous standards, thereby significantly enhancing the region's bunkering reliability and environmental sustainability.
RN Magellan was commissioned in October 2010 and is currently based in Murmansk, under the ownership of Rosnefteflot JSC.
Originally deployed for fuel transportation and bunkering in the White and Barents Seas, RN Magellan expanded its operations in 2017 to include the port of St. Petersburg and other Baltic Sea ports. The tanker's bunkering activities in St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, and Ust-Luga facilitate the expansion and consolidation of JSC Rosneft's presence in the region.
The following AKRUS® coating systems were applied during the dock repairs of the tanker «RN Magellan» in Kaliningrad in 2017: ice-resistant AKRUS® Strong, anticorrosive coatings AKRUS® Epoks С, AKRUS® Praym, AKRUS® Long, and polyurethane finish coating AKRUS® Poliur.
AKRUS® coatings application is recommended in instances where ships are required to navigate in ice-laden or otherwise hostile marine environments.
