  • Client: FSUE Rosmorport
  • Task: AKRUS® trademark products delivery for the icebreaker Moscow dock repair
Description of the project

The icebreaker "Moskva" (IMO 9326574), constructed in 2008, boasts a deadweight of 6425 tons and a GT of 9491 tons. It features two full-turn propeller columns with a combined capacity of 16 megawatts, designed for operation in ice with thicknesses exceeding 1 meter.

The vessel serves various purposes, including:

  • Facilitating the passage of large-tonnage vessels (including tankers) up to 50 meters wide.
  • Towing vessels in icy and clear waters.
  • Cargo transportation.
  • Emergency response and vessel assistance.
  • Dealing with oil and chemical spills at sea and firefighting.

To enhance the icebreaker's efficiency and expedite its return on investment, it can be deployed during the summer for supplying and maintaining platforms in oil and gas fields and onshore terminals.

The flagship icebreaker of the "Moskva" series was constructed at the slipway of the Baltic Plant on May 19, 2005, and launched on May 25, 2007. Mooring trials commenced in October of the same year.

In 2016, the icebreaker "Moskva" successfully operated in the Gulf of Ob bay within the waters of the Sabetta port, subsequently returning to its home port of St. Petersburg.

During its service, the icebreaker "Moskva" facilitated the icebreaking passage of 142 vessels in the under-construction Sabetta seaport. Additionally, it performed 432 sea ice operations, including the retrieval of a sunken object from a depth of 15 meters amidst icy conditions, utilizing the standard diving equipment onboard.

These operations were conducted amid severe weather conditions, with ice thickness reaching up to 2 meters and an average air temperature of -42°C.
