Icebreaker «Moskva» IMO 9326574, built in 2008, deadweight DWT 6425 tons, GT 9491 tons with two full-turn propeller columns with a total capacity of 16 megawatts. The hull is created to work in ice with a more than 1 meter thickness. The icebreaker is intended for:
- For passing large-tonnage vessels (including tankers) up to 50 meters wide;
- Towing vessels in ice and on clean water;
- Cargo transportation;
- For emergency works and assisting vessels;
- Combating oil and chemical spills on the high seas and extinguishing fires.
To increase the efficiency of the icebreaker and reduce its payback period, the vessel can be used in the summer to supply and maintain platforms operating in oil and gas fields and onshore terminals.
The «Moskva» series's main icebreaker was created in the Baltic Plant's slipway on May 19, 2005. Launched on May 25, 2007. In October of the same year, the company began mooring trials of the vessel.
In 2016, the icebreaker «Moskva» successfully operated in the Gulf of Ob bay in the waters of the port of Sabetta, after which it returned to the home port of St. Petersburg.
With the help of the icebreaker «Moskva», the icebreaking passing of 142 vessels was carried out in the Sabetta seaport under construction. 432 sea ice operations were carried out to break the ice in the water of the seaport, including an operation to lift a sunken object in ice conditions from a depth of 15 meters using the standard diving equipment of the icebreaker.
The work was carried out by an icebreaker in severe weather conditions with an ice thickness of up to 2 meters and an average air temperature of -42° C.
