Client:
JSC «Baltic Shipyard» (part of JSC «Shipbuilding Corporation»).
Customer: Rosatom State Corporation - Task: AKRUS® trademark coatings supply for the construction of the world's first Nuclear Power Plant Academik Lomonosov
The nuclear power plant, designated as Akademik Lomonosov, was constructed as part of a floating nuclear thermal power plant project. The plant is designed to withstand the impact of a wide range of natural disasters. The nuclear processes employed on a floating power unit comply with all the International Atomic Energy Agency requirements and do not pose a threat to the environment. Following its scheduled commissioning in 2019, the floating nuclear-powered plant will replace the Bilibino nuclear-powered plant and the Chaunskaya CHP, which are already technologically obsolete. It will also become the northernmost nuclear power plant in the world.
The Academik Lomonosov is a distinctive project of a transportable, low-power plant designed for operation in the Far North and Far East. The station's primary objective is to provide energy to remote, large-scale industrial facilities, settlements, and oil platforms. The capacity of the NPP is sufficient to support the vital activity of a city with a population of approximately 100,000 people.
The construction of the Akademik Lomonosov NPP is nearing completion. In May 2019, the vessel was docked for the inspection of the bottom-side fittings and the painting of the underwater section and freeboard. All dock work has been successfully completed. Once the vessel had been moored at the completion berth, a crucial stage of the final work was initiated: the vessel received its final coat of paint in accordance with it's design.
A team of experts from the organisation applied the corporate colours of Rosatom State Corporation, which are red, blue, and white, to the Akademik Lomonosov.
The following AKRUS® materials were employed during the construction phase: AKRUS® Epoks С with winter version, AKRUS® Epoks С (Al), AKRUS® Poliur (blue, white, red, black) and AKRUS® Terma
