Materials supply for the cruise liner «Peter the Great»

The construction of a new passenger liner for the PV300VD project commenced on 15 August 2016. On May 24, 2019, a passenger cruise liner of the PV300VD project was launched at the Lotos shipyard for subsequent construction and completion in a maritime environment. It is anticipated that the vessel will commence operations in 2020.

The Peter the Great, a vessel belonging to the Volga–Don Max class, represents the first river–sea cruise liner in Russia to meet international requirements and conventions. These include the Convention for the Protection of Human Life at Sea, as certified by the Marine Engineering Bureau.

The length overall (LOA) of the vessel is 141 metres, the beam is 16.8 metres, and the maximum speed is 22.5 kilometres per hour. The vessel is capable of operating for a period of 15 days on a single fuel supply, while all other resources are expected to last for a further 10 days.

The vessel has a capacity of 310 passengers, who will be accommodated in 155 cabins of various classes. The vessel will also accommodate 10 luxury apartments measuring 26-36 square metres, each with a balcony, 2 luxury cabins for passengers with disabilities, 133 standard cabins measuring 19-21 square metres, also equipped with a balcony, 8 additional standard cabins without a balcony, and 2 standard cabins for passengers with disabilities.

The vessel has been designed to operate on inland waterways and to provide access to the marine areas of the Caspian and Black Sea basins. This is the first passenger vessel of this size ever to be constructed in Russia.
